Recommended hardware
Specific HammondPOS recommendations for tablets, Android tills, printers and networking.
Known-good approach
HammondPOS is designed around Android devices with LAN/Ethernet printing over a reliable local network.
If you want us to review a planned hardware stack before purchase, contact us first.
Android tablets
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 — good all-round Android tablet for HammondPOS.
- Teclast 13.4-inch Android tablet — suitable budget-friendly option for lighter-duty deployments.
Recommended minimum: Android 10+, reliable Wi-Fi, 4GB RAM preferred, 64GB storage preferred and a screen size comfortable for till use.
Keep the device dedicated to POS during trading wherever possible.
Android till / EPOS terminal
- iMin Swan 2 — premium HammondPOS recommendation for venues wanting a polished fixed till setup.
This style of terminal suits operators who want a more permanent counter installation than a stand-mounted tablet.
If you want a mid-range or higher-end till recommendation for your venue size, ask us and we can advise on the most suitable current option.
Receipt and prep printers
- Xprinter XP-S260M — current 80mm LAN thermal printer recommendation.
- Star / Epson 80mm LAN printers — suitable where already installed or supplied as part of a tested setup.
Recommended standard: 80mm thermal receipt printer, LAN/Ethernet connection, ESC/POS compatible, static/reserved IP address recommended, commonly using port 9100.
Routers and networking
- Minimum recommendation: GL.iNet Opal — suitable for smaller local HammondPOS networks.
- Larger-capacity / SIM-backup recommendation: a business-grade 4G/5G router such as a GL.iNet Spitz AX or Teltonika-class router with SIM failover.
For busier sites or sites needing broadband backup, choose a router with more LAN capacity and built-in SIM capability.
Default printer IP commonly used in testing is 192.168.88.20, but your final setup may differ.
